There are distinct trends in the way the Consensus Mean estimate moves in the portion of S&P companies that have upward revisions in the Consensus Mean and in the portion that have downward revisions. SmartEstimates can be used to provide greater confidence in predicting the direction of future Consensus Mean estimate moves. When trailing 4-week consensus revisions momentum data is combined with the SmartEstimate, the predictive capability of the SmartEstimate is strengthened.
